At some point in your life, there can be challenges that will test your mental capacity. Sometimes, unfortunate events may happen that can cause you to experience mental illnesses like depression or anxiety. It may be hard to process but these mental illnesses can be treated.

Mental illness can be complex. But it doesn’t have to be so hard! We know how you feel, and we want to help. So today we’re going to share our top 10 tips for taking care of your mental health. Exercise

Exercising can help you reduce stress and anxiety, as well as improve your sleep quality, which can help to improve your mood. Plus, working out can make you feel replenished your lost energy the other day.

Learn to say NO, Implement healthy boundaries

There are a lot of things that can cause you stress. And if something stresses you out or makes you feel anxious, just say no. Remember, you don’t have to do everything everyone asks of you — prioritize yourself is what’s important, and let go of whatever isn’t serving you

Surround yourself with people who make you happy

Sometimes it’s hard to figure this out on your own—that’s why it’s important to surround yourself with people you trust and who make you happy. Hang out with your family or friends can help you shift your mind from negative to positive. However, if a person does not make you feel comfortable, you can always surround yourself with people or things that make YOU happy.

Be patient with yourself and with others

Give yourself some slack. If you’re upset, sad, or mad – give yourself time to cool down. Emotions are very tricky to handle – and with mental illness on the side, it can turn into a much more serious breakdown of thoughts. That is why be patient. Let yourself heal in the process. Don’t hold grudges and forgive yourself for past things while also forgiving others. Remember, forgiveness for others is for your healing and not for them.


Eat healthy food 

Eating healthy food have lots of benefits for your body and well-being. Eating fruit and vegetable that contain vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients are good for your brain.

Let yourself relax

Sometimes when you’re caught up in a lot of things, it can be quite overwhelming and tiring to function. That is why taking some time for yourself is a way of rewarding yourself for all the things that spent you throughout the day. Do something that makes you feel calm and peaceful.

Find time to relax: Take some time every day to do something that makes you feel calm Whether it’s reading a book or taking a nap, doing something relaxing will help you feel less stressed about whatever issues are bothering you right now. 

Avoid the use of alcohol and drugs 

Some people use alcohol and drugs to “self-medicate” but it ruins your chance of getting better. Mental illness is not something you can treat with just a snap. It’s a healing process that contains counseling and therapy. Using drugs and alcohol only aggravates the problem.

Have a social media detox

Remember people post what they want to see. No one’s life is perfect. Save yourself from unrealistic expectations and standards that the internet has. Too much screen time on social media can make you question your life and how it has standards that you haven’t yet met. Remember, we all have our pace. You don’t have to listen and make an effort on things that are set to be unrealistic. Be kind to yourself and let yourself grow outside social media. At the end of the day, remember that social media is for entertainment.

Avoid overthinking things that haven’t happened yet 

This may seem to be hard but it’s always worth it in the end. Overthinking things that haven’t happened yet can cause you to sabotage yourself. Sometimes, judging things before it happens results in holding back and makes you miss out on the opportunity that it has.

Talk to someone

Talk to a friend that you respect and that you can confide in. When things are already starting to feel helpless, talking to an expert can be a help. Sometimes with all the overwhelming events that happen in our life, we just can’t control what we feel. And if things are no longer feeling alright and serious, it may be time to ask for help through an expert.
